“As a background, I have been seeing my therapist for over four years now. We have always been very consistent and thorough. She diagnosed me with Bipolar II YEARS ago and we have been working to manage this for years. 10 minutes into my first appointment Joseph insisted that I did not have bipolar disorder after I had just expressed the struggles I’ve had dealing with hypomania and depression. He said because I haven’t been “manic” for longer than a week, I wasn’t bipolar. He stated that mania is crazy and I don’t have it. Bipolar II is hypomania and shorter than episodes, so im not sure if he knows what he is even talking about there. There is a reason im diagnosed with Bipolar II, not I. This in itself was very demeaning considering I received this diagnosis long ago and have spent a very long time learning how to live with it. Regardless of me expressing how hard it has been for me and how sure my therapist and I have been about my diagnosis for, again, YEARS, he continued to tell me I was wrong. I have been on lamotrigine since 2022 and it has worked wonders for me. Anyone who knows me knows I refer to it as a “miracle drug”. I have been titrating up and had plans with my previous doctor to move to a 400mg dose from my current 300 before my insurance changed and I could not see her anymore. After 15-20 minutes of Joseph belittling me and being extremely demeaning he stated that he “guesses” he can titrate it up. When he sent my refill to the pharmacy he sent the same 300mg dose I had been on. I also have taken trazodone for years to help my sleep and he refused me trazodone because “we aren’t gonna dope you up on sedatives”. Trazodone is an SSRI, I wasn’t in there asking for ambien. I also, again, had been taking this for years. I am on adderall for my ADHD, and have been for a longtime as well. Joseph pushed and pushed for me to stop taking it and made comments that made me seem as though I was “drug seeking” when I asked that I continue getting refills for this. He, like the lamotrigine, said he “guesses” he can. He never sent that prescription PERIOD. As someone who took years to get mental health help because of the stigma around it, being treated as though it is nothing and making my need for help seem like “drug seeking” behavior is extremely invalidating. He should not be in this field”

“I would definitely not recommend Joseph Reistetter. He seems to be in the wrong profession. He didn't seem to care at all about me and was even kind of condescending. He also just tried to push ketamine on me. I guess if you just want some pills and to try ketamine, he might be an ok option if you can stand him. His assistant is weird too- talked to me like I was 5 years old. His assistant lays it on so thick it is ridiculous but then Joseph Reistetter is the complete opposite of not caring enough.”
